For the next 72 days, 22 ladies and gentlemen will have to shine their eyes as they scramble to win a grand prize of N90million in Nigeria’s most popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija.
The sixth season of the show is themed ‘Shine Ya Eye’.
Meet the housemates:
1. Boma (Boma Akpore)
Boma, 34, is a masseuse and mixologist who promises to keep it unpredictable. He says there are “99 Pages of Boma” – and you just never know which page you’re going to get. Apart from being unpredictable, the 34-year-old former footballer who was raised in Yaba, Lagos is spontaneous and is planning to take his Big Brother Naija journey one day at a time. 34-year-old Boma was raised by his single mother and grandmother.
2. Saga (Adeoluwa Okusaga)
Saga, 29, is from Lagos state. The engineer and artist plans to live by the motto ‘Positive Vibes Only’ during his time in the Big Brother Naija House. In a fight, prepare to hear this 29-year-old stating his case, loudly.
3. Yousef
Yousef is from Plateau state. He is a biracial Nigerian who teaches Technical Education in a secondary school.
4. Pere (Pere Egbi)
Pere is from Warri, Delta state. The 36-year-old is a singer and actor. He is the firstborn of two children.
The vibrant 35-year-old is also a part-time actor and model.
5. Whitemoney (Hazel Oyeze Onou)
The 29-year-old Lagos based businessman and entrepreneur, originally from Enugu State, believes he has a great aura and that his “swag speaks for itself”.
The highest point of his life so far happened recently, when he kick-started his designer shoe import business.
6. Yerins (Yerimene Abraham Saibakumo)
Yerins, 27, is a medical doctor who is hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. He described himself as a “polymath” who has an undying love for many creative things. He intends to approach his time in the Big Brother Naija House with sincerity.
7. Niyi (Adeniyi Lawai)
Niyi is a 33-year-old computer engineer from Oyo State. Though he was once in the running to be a professional basketball player, that ambition was quickly quashed when he sustained an injury, leading to sciatica.
The husband and father is an avid reader, aspiring writer and is fond of playing board games and card games – he even has a gaming license. He describes himself as “optimistic, spontaneous and adventurous”, while others describe him as being energetic.
8. Jay paul (Paul Ephraim)
Jaypaul, a 29-year-old Lagos based musician and actor, believes the Big Brother Naija House will be the perfect opportunity to help boost his already fledgling career in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
In his own words, he is “entertaining, confident, playful, honest and friendly”.
9. Cross (Ikechukwu Sunday Cross Okonkwo)
Lagos based Cross is a fitness enthusiast and entrepreneur who describes himself as “a bad boy with a good heart”.
Although single, this 31-yer-old is not afraid to dole out the relationship advice and believes people don’t know that communication is the key to successful relationships.
10. Sammie (Samuel Jacob Alifa)
Sammie is a 26-year-old amateur filmmaker and final year student of Guidance and Counselling at Ahmadu Bello University.
In 2020, he produced his very first short film and now has his sights set on growing his YouTube series and taking his career to the next level.
11. Emmanuel (Emmanuel Umoh)
Emmanuel, 24, hails from Akwa Ibom. A self-described risk-taker, he loves to travel, connect with people and try out new and unique ideas. Emmanuel is a risk-taker who believes in making the best of every opportunity and he counts his physical and social attributes as advantages that garner him a lot of attention.
