Bauchi Male Students Protest Separation From Female Mates

Male Secondary School students in Bauchi State, on Monday, protested the state government’s decision to separate them from their female classmates.

The students caused traffic jam as they marched along major roads to the Emir’s Palace and the headquarters of the ministry of education to relay their grievances.

According to the students, the new education system incepted by the state government is retrogressive to the 21st century and it also discourages social interaction.

The Commissioner for Education in the state, Aliyu Tilde, had announced that the state government decided to separate male and female students in all secondary schools in the state.

Last week, the Ministry published that the male and female students in secondary schools across the state will be separated while academic activities for the 2022/2023 session start on Monday, September 26, 2022.

He had also said that private schools too have been advised to look into the possibility of separating the male from the female students, though the private schools owners are yet to respond to the situation.
