AY Makun reacts to 2Baba’s public apology
He points out that no one is asking whether he’s truly okay.
Comedian and filmmaker AY Makun has shared his thoughts on the ongoing controversy surrounding music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia. This comes in the wake of 2Baba’s recent public apology, where he claimed that men are naturally not monogamous, and the growing tension involving his new partner, Natasha Osawaru.
In a candid and strongly worded post, AY stood by 2Baba, commending his openness and calling the apology a rare display of accountability from a man clearly under emotional pressure.
“It’s always easy to cast the first stone at the supposed offender. No one pauses to ask him the most human question, “Are you okay?” And when they do, it’s rarely without an agenda. No one really cares”.
“I just saw a man under duress taking accountability for his actions. Not because he’s perfect, but because he’s human. As men, we’re raised to suffer in silence. Whether we’re right or wrong, we’re told to “man up.” Even when we finally speak, it rarely ends well. We’re blamed. Misunderstood. Dismissed. Our vulnerability doesn’t protect us. it exposes us. Na who them catch? Na, him be thief”.

His remarks follow the controversy sparked by the singer’s interview, in which 2Baba claimed that men are not capable of being sexually committed to just one person. The backlash was immediate reportedly including a response from Natasha and within hours of the clip going viral, 2Baba issued a public apology to her for his statement.
