Corruption Behind The Move By Ex APGA Leadership To Frustrate Otti’s Guber Case At The Tribunal.

Being Text Of A Press Conference Organised By The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Abia State, On The Move By Some Dissidents To Withdraw APGA From The Ongoing Governorship Case At The Tribunal.

Gentlemen of the press, good afternoon to you all.

Following your several enquiries on the the status of the governorship case filed by our party APGA, and her Candidate in the last governorship election, Dr. Alex Otti OFR, especially where it concerns the alleged move by some individuals to withdraw our party APGA from the case, we deem it most appropriate and timely to use this medium and offer the necessary answers and explanations to your numerous questions, while clearing any doubts that may have remained unresolved.

Recall that after the announcement of the corruption-infested governorship election in which INEC fraudulently declared PDP’s Okezie Ikpeazu as the winner, to the shock and bewilderment of millions of suffering Abians, we chose the honourable path, and filed a suit at the Abia governorship Tribunal sitting in Umuahia.

While we would not want to discuss anything that might appear sub-judice since the case is already at the Tribunal, we would, however, gladly inform you that our team of eminent lawyers presented a watertight case, ladened with overwhelming facts of evidence to prove that the election was a charade and a mockery of INEC and our Electoral guidelines, and thus should not be allowed to stand.

Be also informed that, a date has since been fixed by the Tribunal for adoption of final written addresses by parties. So the case has been progressing very well.

On the issue of the application seeking the withdrawal of APGA from the governorship case, which we understand is your main concern, we would crave your indulgence to briefly go back to the genesis of the disgusting brouhaha to enable you understand how we got to this sorry pass.

During the last APGA governorship primaries, APGA got to her lowest point since its formation as a political party, due to the criminal extortion and demeaning corruption committed by the former national leadership led by the former National Chairman, Chief Victor Oye.

These atrocities affected the party at all levels, especially in Abia, Imo and Anambra where passionate party members and aspirants were not only extorted and defrauded, but were unjustly shortchanged and humiliated.

You may have repeatedly heard some people describe it as a Ponzi Scheme; such was the extent of public odium they subjected our members to.

As we speak, the former National Chairman, Chief Victor Oye has remained a regular guest of the EFCC and the courts, as cases of fraud and criminal extortions hang on his neck. These are just suits and petitions from men who have the capacity, the means and the desire to seek redress.

In our own state of Abia, it took a very long and fierce battle by our governorship candidate Dr. Alex Otti and other  Progressives, as well as the grace of God to stop their high profile arrangement to sell the governorship ticket to an agent of Abia state government/PDP, against Otti who has supported the party since 2014, and who was undisputedly the choice of the masses.

Gentlemen of the Press, the climax of this audacity of criminality, was the daring assault by the former national chairman and his cohorts to attempt to return themselves back to power as officers of the party. An action we considered grossly insensitive and disrespectful, and thus decided not to allow it.

Realising that he had crashed irredeemably, having left legacies of greed, theft, abuse, extortion, and general corruption, he decided to unleash part of the ill gotten resources on hungry party officials at the state levels in his unpopular bid to bully his way through to an undeserved second term.

Sadly, Abia happens to be one of the states where he assured state and LGA officers, including the grossly incompetent ones that he was going to return all of them so that they could in turn return him as Chairman.

Sensing that such a self serving project was unpopular, they hurriedly pencilled down some illustrious and respected leaders of the party especially in Abia, Imo and Anambra for verbal abuse and humiliation.

In the case of Dr. Alex Otti, they childishly accused him of being interested in running for the Office of National Chairman, and in their panic, they deployed some renegades who announced that Otti has been suspended from the party, but when they didn’t get the cheap attention they were seeking, they activated the latest move, which is to attempt the withdrawal of APGA from the governorship petition.

In a leaked conversation involving the leaders of  the renegades in Abia, they discussed how they were going to collect money from the PDP led Abia state government for the hatchet job who they described as the beneficiaries of this action,  and we believe that it was after the necessary financial settlement, that they filed their frivolous suit in court seeking the withdrawal of APGA from the governorship case. ( I will circulate details of their leaked chat shortly for proof)

To show that their destructive bond with the enemies of APGA is still strong, they hired a well known PDP man and agent of the state government as their lawyer.

The said lawyer was the PDP’s LGA agent in the governorship election and appeared as a witness for PDP, and against APGA in the ongoing governorship case. We thought they could do better!.

So gentlemen of the Press, for want of time, we would have to summarise, but be humbly assured that we are making progress as most of you would wish, and our resolve to reclaim our state from the hands of her enemies, and redeem our people, remains unshaken, and not even those who have vowed to merchandise and destroy our party, APGA, would succeed in derailing our vision and objective.

It would have been a bit honorable for these tested and distrusted party leaders to quit the party, or remorsefully seek forgiveness after their inglorious betrayal of our people, but having chosen to spit on the grave of our legendary leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, by seeking to destroy APGA for personal economic gains, we have no choice but to stand up to the challenge and defeat them, for the good of our people.

Our message to the Ekperima team is that, never will APGA serve as an Unholy Temple for such a Scandalous Bazaar that ran contrary to all that APGA stands for as a progressive party.
