APC Presidential Primary: Vote A Visionary Flag Bearer -Buhari Urges Delegates | READ DETAILS
The All Progressives Congress primary Election is ongoing presently at the Eagle square, Abuja, after series of activities at the convention which runs into this morning.
Activities of the convention started at ten O’clock in the morning yesterday, 7th of may where all the 23 aspirants gave their manifestos.
A presidential hopeful of the Party, Bola Tinubu, secured the support of some of his fellow aspirants to get the party’s ticket as seven of them took turns to announce that they were stepping down for him.
The likes of Godswill Apkabio, Ibukunle Amosun, Kayode Fayemi, Dimeji Bankole ,Abubakar Badaru, Uju Ken Ohanenye and Robert Borofice Ajayi made the turns as they urge their delegates to support Tinubu in the late hours of Tuesday night, while the vice president secured only one support from the youngest aspirant of the party, Dr Nickolas Felix as he stepped down for the Vice President . .
As at the time of this report voting has been completed while sorting of the votes were underway .
President Muhammadu Buhari in a remark urged members of the party to vote a knowledgeable, fair minded and a nationalist with a very strong belief in the unity of Nigeria and purpose to steer the country forward.
Buhari reiterated the need for the party to remain united and vote the best candidate which will lead to the victory of the party during the 2023 general polls.
The president noted the need for a hitch-free presidential primary, encouraging aspirants who may loose or concede to maintain the spirit of sportsmanship and stand by the party.
Earlier the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and the likes of other aspirants in the race had urged delegates to make choice that will tell the future of the country.
The APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu in his remarks noted that the fate of the party depends on who emerges as the flag bearer.
Adamu also reiterated the need for unity as a key factor that will aid the victory of the party during the 2023 presidential election.
He stated that efforts are required to work towards perfecting the electoral processes in the country.
