Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers State has dared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to suspend him amid his insistence for the resignation of the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
Wike who threw the challenge during a chat from selected journalists on Friday when asked if he was not worried that the leadership of the party might suspend him said that the party knows what he is capable of.
“I beg them today, they should not waste time to suspend me,” said the governor during the media chat held at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
“They should call a National Executive Committee (NEC) – meeting – now and say ‘you are now suspended from the party’. Anything you see, you take. They know what I will do.”
Governor Wike has been perceived to have been engaged in anti-party activities as well as making comments that have appeared derogatory to the leadership of the party and meeting stakeholders from other political parties, but he dismissed such saying it was not peculiar to him as “people will always come around leaders that are assets”
“My job here is not only (to execute) projects; I am not saying I am bigger than the party, but those who ran away from the party cannot suspend me from the party.”
