Amid Cross River Lawmakers Sack, Police Take Over Assembly | READ DETAILS
Following the recent sack of 18 lawmakers of the Cross River State House of Assembly, and 2 House of Representative members by Justice Taiwo Taiwo of an Abuja High Court, police operatives have taken over the State Assembly.
The 20 lawmakers were sacked for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to All Progressive Congress (APC).
According to eye witnesses, the uniformed men from various units, were seen within the premises as early as 6am on Tuesday.
Police units seen on ground include; the Anti-Kidnapping, Cultism and regular policemen, all armed.
However, the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) claims that it has applied for a stay for execution of the judgment and would challenge it at Appeal Court.
