Following the visit by some members of the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, Drugs & Narcotics and Human Rights to Ndiegoro axis of Aba, to ascertain the root cause of the crisis between some men of the Nigerian Police and some residents of the area which led to burning of houses allegedly perpetrated by men of the Nigerian Police occasioned by the killing of a policeman and a commercial bus driver, the parties to the matter had been invited to the National Assembly for more information before submitting its report.

The hearing which held on Tuesday, November 26th, 2019, had in attendance, the joint Committee members led by the chairman, Hon. Babatunde Ayeni, the Representatives of the victims of the arson, representative from the State Security Services (SSS), Hon. Prestige Ossy who moved the motion to draw the attention of the House to the mayhem, amongst others. The representatives from the Nigerian Police were however, absent.

After the representatives of the arson victims took turns to give detailed account of what happened and responded to questions from the Committee members, the chairman of the committee addressed them. He however, lamented the absence of the Police Representatives and ruled for another invitation to the Police for the sake of Justice and fair hearing. The hearing was therefore, adjourned till further notice.
