Abia State Pensioners on Tuesday, took to the streets to protest and express their grievances over years of unpaid salaries and gratuities.
One of the pensioners, who spoke to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER said that they were on a peaceful protest against non payment of their stipends that coversĀ thirty-eight months and Twenty years backlog of their gratuities.
He expressed his regret that since the present government was inaugurated, it has done little or nothing to better their lots instead, has improvised them the more by their refusal to the do the needful.
He added that the pensioners are on a two day state wide protest were they will express their concerns and called on the government of Abia State to come to their aid by paying them the backlog of salaries that they are being owed.
The aggrieved pensioners dressed in black and black regalia, chanted songs of sorrow as they match down to government house Umuahia.
