Abia’s Industrial Vision Soars: AIIP Project Gains Momentum with NCDMB Partnership

Abia State’s industrial future looks brighter as Governor Alex Otti partners with the NCDMB to push forward the Abia Industrial and Innovation Park project (AIIP). Read more about this strategic collaboration and its potential impact on the state’s economy.

In a significant stride towards industrial transformation, Abia State is set to accelerate the development of the Abia Industrial and Innovation Park (AIIP) in Owaza, Ukwa West Local Government Area. Governor Alex Otti has affirmed the state’s readiness to collaborate closely with the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), a partnership poised to drive the project to new heights.

During a recent meeting with a delegation from the NCDMB led by Executive Secretary Engr. Felix Ogbe, Governor Otti emphasized the state’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment. “As a government that champions private sector-led growth, we have already laid the groundwork by acquiring nearly 2,000 hectares of land for the AIIP and issuing the necessary Certificates of Occupancy. We are eager to see this project not only take off but land successfully, with NCDMB’s invaluable support,” Otti stated.

The AIIP project, which saw its groundbreaking ceremony earlier this year, has already garnered significant attention, including from federal representatives and industry leaders. Governor Otti reassured that all necessary compensations for the original landowners have been arranged, ensuring that the project proceeds smoothly.

Engr. Ogbe lauded the state government’s proactive approach, noting that in many other states, industrial parks often struggle without government backing. However, in Abia, the state itself is spearheading the effort, making it a unique and promising venture.

Ogbe further expressed optimism about the project’s potential, committing to present Abia’s proposal to the NCDMB Governing Board for approval. “I believe this is a worthwhile endeavor, and I look forward to returning with positive news after our discussions,” Ogbe assured.

The Abia Industrial and Innovation Park is set to be a game-changer, not just for the state but for Nigeria’s broader industrial landscape. With the abundance of natural gas in Owaza and strategic planning, the park promises to create thousands of jobs and significantly boost the region’s economy.

Governor Otti’s administration remains dedicated to ensuring that this project meets its objectives, marking a new era of industrial growth for Abia State.
