Abians in Diaspora Commission Bill (H.A.B.21 of 2020) Passes First Reading in Abia House

A Bill for a Law to Establish Abians in the Diaspora Commission and for other matters, has passed through its first reading by the members of Abia State House of Assembly.

 

The Bill, is sponsored by the Minority Whip/member representing Arochukwu State Constituency, Hon. Dr. Onyekwere Mike Ukoha.

 

The Bill seeks for a Law to establish Abians in Diaspora Commission and for other Matters Incidental Thereto.

The Bill, seeks to provide a direct link for Abians in Diaspora to participate in the development of Abia State and advise the State Government on measures that would create a conducive environment for them, to effectively participate in the economic and social development of the State.

 

It seeks to Develop and co-ordinate the implementation of policies that affect Abians in Diaspora and give them a sense of belonging in the affairs of Abia State.

It also seek to monitor independently, or in collaboration with any person, institution or public department unjust acts against Abians in Diaspora and pursue redress as appropriate.

 

The Bill, also seek to collate, collaborate, regulate and set standards for the provision of volunteer services in Abia State by Abians in Diaspora etc.

It is expected that the Bill, will be given an accelerated hearing by the members and accented to, by the Governor of the State Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, due to its many benefits, not only to Abians in Diaspora, but for the economic benefits of the State.
