Abia Warriors Football Club is poised for greater achievements in the upcoming 2024-2025 Nigerian Premier League (NPL) season, with a renewed determination to clinch the coveted cup. This ambitious goal follows a remarkable 2023-2024 season, which saw the club achieve significant milestones and gain substantial support from various stakeholders.

The Chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club, Coach John Obuh, extends heartfelt gratitude to the Abia State Government, led by Governor Alex Chioma Otti OFR, for their unwavering support throughout the 2023-2024 NPL season. “Governor Otti’s dedication to sports development and his commitment to the success of Abia Warriors has been instrumental in our progress,” stated Coach Obuh.

The club also acknowledges the efforts of the Abia State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Honorable Nwaobilor Ananaba, whose commitment to the growth of sports, particularly Abia Warriors, has been exemplary.

Coach Obuh expressed deep appreciation for the club’s loyal supporters, who consistently filled the stands and cheered the team on every match day. “Our fans are the heartbeat of Abia Warriors, and their unwavering support has been crucial to our success,” he said.

Reflecting on the 2023-2024 season, Coach Obuh noted that it was a significant improvement for Abia Warriors compared to previous years. “We competed fiercely against top NPL teams and NNL, securing victories, enduring draws, and facing defeats. Overall, we have demonstrated that Abia Warriors is a formidable team with the potential to dominate the league.”

One of the highlights of the season was Abia Warriors reaching the finals of the Presidential Federation Cup, a historic achievement for the club. Although they narrowly lost to El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, the experience underscored the team’s capability to compete at the highest level.

Looking ahead to the 2024-2025 NPL season, Abia Warriors is committed to building on their successes and aiming for the top spot. “We are preparing, re-strategizing, and addressing key issues to ensure we end up at the top,” Coach Obuh emphasized.

The club plans to enhance fan engagement by creating platforms that allow supporters to participate more actively in the club’s success. “Our fans will be one of the key tools to unlock more greatness. We are committed to creating opportunities for them to take ownership and be part of our journey,” Coach Obuh added.

Abia Warriors is also seeking increased sponsorship and support from football enthusiasts and partners. “Success in football requires strong backing. We are calling on sponsors and supporters to join us in making the 2024-2025 season a resounding success,” Coach Obuh urged.

Special thanks were extended to the players of Abia Warriors for their dedication and performance in the last season. “You have made us proud, and I am confident that you will excel even further in the 2024-2025 season,” Coach Obuh concluded.

The chairman on assumption created a VIP entrance to enable the match officials and the two teams’ security to remain intact. The club also built a formidable youth teams U19, U17 and U15 with a comfortable hostel  which enables the players to be comfortable to give their best.
