Abia: Uche Aguoru, ASEPA Embarks On Evacuation Of Massive Waste Dumps In Ohuhu Zone  |WATCH VIDEO

Cleanliness has returned to the Nkwoegwu market environment as the men of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) were seen yesterday, with their tractors as they commenced massive evacuation of refuse dumped within the market premises and other areas in Ohuhu zone.

Speaking to newsmen during the exercise, the Chairman, ASEPA Waste Management Committee, Ohuhu zone. Comrade Uche Aguoru noted that the exercise became very necessary going by the heap of refuse within the market area. He noted that refuse disposal remains an integral part of waste management and intervention duties recently embarked by the ASEPA Ohuhu zone.

He further advised the people on the best way of comporting themselves in order to complement the efforts of ASEPA in the zone by avoiding indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the area.

“It will no longer be a business as usual. We are going to provide buckets to the residents and also introduce waste disposal bags to make sure that refuse dumping is properly done. However, we are going to be hard on anybody who tries to liter the environment, but we will do our job”, the ASEPA zonal boss assures.

On how he is going to achieve a total compliance to the guide on refuse dumping in the area to further uphold a neat environment in the market premises, Comr. Uche  Aguoru noted that a lots of media sensitization has been mapped out as well as visitation to schools to further sensitize the residents of the area.

The ASEPA zonal boss who noted the involvement of huge finance in the processes of refuse management expressed assurance of the willingness of the state to finance the project as it is the reason while the State governor, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu appointed him.
