Some residents of Umuahia have continued to lament on the high level of robbery attacks which is going on in the city, stressing that if nothing is done about it, such can degenerate into something else in the State.
Lamenting this development to AFNews reporter, a resident of the city explained that on Thursday 16th January 2020, one robbery incident happened at Calabar street in Umuahia, where robbers entered a provision store, pointed a gun at the shop owner, and collected all the money before coming out to shoot sporadically in the air, adding that as a result of the development, the entire street went agog.
He further stated that while this was happening, there was yet another incident in front of NIPOST Umuahia involving a man who was trailed from the bank and was doubled crossed by robbers, alleging that the said man was shot dead, while a lady inside a tricycle was hit by the gun shot in the leg.
The resident also revealed that while the above incidents were taking place, another set of robbers that came in Keke attacked outlets at express tower.
He regretted that the people perpetrating this dastardly act were the same people who sometime ago went after shop owners, saying that it is believed that they normally pretend to assist shop owners in carrying their goods, where they monitor those who make huge income daily for a possible attack, and called on the government to look into the matter as it appears
