ABIA STATE SCHOLARSHIP BOARD MEMBERS TASK ON TRANSPARENT SELECTION

Members of the Abia State Scholarship Board have been inaugurated with a charge to ensure transparency in the selection of beneficiaries of the programme in order to achieve the objective of the board.

The state governor, Dr. Ikpeazu Okezie who gave the charge while inaugurating members of the newly constituted Board further reminded them that the state government was committed in providing quality educational support to the people and enjoined the members of the broad to ensure that only qualified sons and daughters of the state receive scholarship awards to underscores the importance government attaches to education of its citizens.

Represented by his deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu urged them to

source for funds by exploiting vast opportunities from donor agencies towards actualising their mandate maintaining that it would be in the interest of government if the board grant scholarships to many Abians to assist them in their educational quest.

He equally urged them to devise  means of advancing the board as government was interested on the way forward.

Responding on behalf of the committee, the chairman Abia State Scholarship Board , Chief Empire kanu  who said they will bring to bear their years of experience in the discharge of their duties and promised to place premium on justice, merit and equity in the process of selection of beneficiaries of the scholarship and commended the governor’s quest to prioritize quality education as a laudable one that must be encouraged by all.
