The Commissioner of Police Abia State Police Command, CP Ene Okon FDC had said that the officers and men of the Command have made giant strides within three weeks in curtailing Kidnapping, Armed Robbery and Cultism in the State.
Mr. Ene Okon who stated this during a Press Briefing which was held on July 15th 2019, at the Police Headquarters in Umuahia, explained that the Operation Puff Adder which was initiated by the present led Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu mni, was aimed at flushing out kidnapping, armed robbery and cultism from the society have started yielding positive results.
He explained that within the space of three weeks, the Officers and Men of the Police Force in the State have so far arrested three notorious kidnappers namely Chinonyerem Udo, Chinwendu Chinoyerem and Onyekachi Amanze, while some fire arms such as three locally made guns were recovered from them.
Mr. Okon said that on 11th of June 2019, following a tip off generated from IGP IRT team, the team in conjunction with officers of Aba Area Command, arrested some suspected notorious kidnappers at Umunta village, Isiala Ngwa South L.G.A including a 65 years old man from Aro Umuekwe village Osisioma Ngwa L.G.A where they all confessed to several kidnapping, adding that efforts are on top gear to arrest other gang members who are at large.

He thanked the IGP Mohammed Adamu and the State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpazu for their efforts in providing the necessary assistance such as brand new patrol vehicles to check crimes.
In their reactions, some of the suspects who were paraded such as Nkereuwem Etim who hail from Essien Udim L.G.A of Akwa Ibom State, Chimaobi Joel and Ukachukwu Udo said they were arrested for kidnapping.
Two students among them Mgbemena Chibuike and Emmanuel Obinna all of Abia State University, Uturu, said they were arrested due to cult related issue involving the killing of one Prince Elvis.
Some of the items recovered include, some locally made rifles, charms, mobile phones and other items.
