According to Okoroafor, the poor road at strategic points eases the operations of kidnappers who are on rampage in that area.
There have been numerous cases of kidnapping especially in Isuikwuato and Umunneochi area of the state which some released or escaped victims have blamed on killer Fulani herdsmen.
Featuring on AF-TV programme “Focal Point” on Thursday, July 14, Hon. Okoroafor also noted that the “Joint Project Account Law In Abia state is fraudulent”.
According to him, in adherence to the law, the people of Isuikwuato contributes 60% of revenue they generate. However, the state government have not been able to facilitate a project for the constituents using the generated funds.
“there is this law in Abia state which we call the Joint Project Account Law in Abia state, that law for me is fraudulent. Where we contribute 60% of our revenue that comes from Isuikwuato Local Government. The law was well intended but the implementation and execution, I am not satisfied with it.
“what project have they used that money to execute in Isuikwuato? In the last 15 years, and religiously, we have not defaulted in contributing to that”.
“I have requested that, take part of these money, the ones we have contributed, and fix where we have ‘welcome to Isuikwuato’ to Ahaba junction.
Its not more than 2kms, tar that place and this insecurity will end” the lawmaker said.
He also recommended for the state government to bring down some of the trees serving as a hideout where kidnappers hide to ambush their targets.
“bring down this place, open this place so that people will not be kidnapped” he added.
According to the lawmaker, he had discussions with the permanent secretary, ministry of works and chief of staff “and they said they are aware; that they will move machines. They brought one caterpillar that is so refurbished, that thing did nothing, if you look at that road it has remained the way it is”
Hon. Okoroafo also said that “apart from the 1km road from Oboro to Charles Ogwo’s place, there is no other road done in Isuikwuato by the state government”.
