AF NEWS today took a tour to some eateries/restaurants in Umuahia to confirm if they are fully complying with Abia State Covid-19 protocols recently spelt out by government and to be upheld by both individuals, public and private owned places, fast food outlets, hotels, religious organizations and social gatherings in the State.
The findings shows that some popular eateries within Umuahia were not complying completely with these regulations while some were completely flouting it.
At the entrance of Jovit FastFood, located at BCA Road round-about, there was restriction of customers entering the premises without their face masks on, but the compliance to the Covid-19 protocol inside the restaurant was poor as some staff were seen without face masks but were still going about their duties within the premises of the restaurants.
Also according to the directive of the state government for eateries to operate on a take-away basis, the restaurant completely flouted this directive as customers were seen eating in the restaurant. This was also the same situation in Apples Restaurant located at Ojike Street and in Hoeffers Fast Food located at Bank Road.
Meanwhile, De Choice Fast Foods seems to be the only restaurant complying with the directive of the state government as AF NEWS discovered that customers were well masked both outside and inside the restaurant and they were operating on a take-away basis as instructed by the State government.
More investigation is on going as the second wave of the COVID 19 pandemic is still causing havoc within our communities.
