There is a current protest in Aba, the commercial city of Abia state, over the alleged plan to demolish Ngwa road market.

Protesters who are mostly traders at the Ahia Ohuru/ Ngwa road market, Aba took to the street on Tuesday, May 25, to kick against the alleged plan to demolish the market by the state government.

Speaking to AF-NEWS correspondent, one of the protesters said they were given a two-day notice to vacate the market.

He said;
“my anger is that they want to demolish the market. we will not accept that. they did not call the landlord so that the market will be renovated, they just gave us to days to vacate with our properties. Its not good”.

The protesters who stormed the streets in their numbers had various placards with inscriptions;

“we are angry with this government”
“leave Ngwa Market alone”
“Ngwa market, we no go gree”
