The honorable member representing Aba North/South Federal Constituency, Honorable Prestige Ossy has brought back smiles to the faces of residents of Okojombo, Anaba, Degema and Umuosi streets at the Ndiegoro axis who were attacked on October 1st 2019 by Nigerian Police due to the death of one of their officers.
In October 1st 2019, unidentified gunmen had attacked a police patrol team, killing a policeman and a civilian driver of the team while others were injured. In retaliation, several buildings at Okojombo, Anaba, Degema and Umuosi streets at the Ndiegoro axis were set ablaze by policemen believed to be from the Ndiegoro Division.
This action rendered many people homeless with their properties worth millions of naira destroyed.
Swiftly, the honorable member representing Aba North/South federal constituency, Honorable Prestige Ossy immediately visited the scene of the incident, sympathized with the people and expressed deep dissatisfaction with the actions of the Nigerian Police.
He also went ahead to raise the matter on the floor of the house as matter of urgent importance while demanding for NEMA to deliver relief materials to the people who have been rendered homeless and their properties destroyed.
The Honorable Speaker of the House quickly set up a committee to investigate the matter and make recommendations to the house.
The vibrancy of the Honorable member has paid off as NEMA today delivered relief materials worth millions of naira.
The relief materials delivered included building materials, sleeping mattress (Foams), food stuff and many other items.
