One Andrew Unoke Abel, a block moulder,  pulled his trouser before the Abia State panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality during cross examination today, March 10.

Abel witnessing in the petition he made against the Abia State Police Commissioner and Isialangwa Police station, said the police shot him in front of his block industry at polycon, Aba road on October 22, 2020 at about 11am.

According to Abel, the police left him in his own pool of blood but was taken to Madonna hospital Umuahia by good samaritans.

He said; “when I was taken to Madonna, they refused to attend to me until a Rev. Father came, pleaded with them to attend to me that am not a criminal.

” The incident was published by some media houses who came to the hospital where I was.

” I was hospitalized for two months”.

According to the witness, he was told in the hospital to continue check ups for 6 months, when they will ascertain if he would be referred to Abuja- for further treatment or not.

During cross examination, the respondent’s counsel, FC Okafor, postulated that the petitioner was not shot by the police.

The petitioner, at this point pulled down his trouser to show the panel where he was shot on his left thigh.

The petitioner’s counsel, Michael Ohawuiro, pleaded the panel to grant him a subpoena to invite the doctor who operated on the petitioner.

The matter was adjourned till March 24, for further hearing.
