A legal Practitioner, Maduka Bishop, has accused some of his colleagues of fake whistle blowing and alleged  Police brutality.

Bishop who is a petitioner before the Abia State Panel of Inquiry, alleged that he was brutalized by some Police officers after some of his colleagues alleged that he was a fake lawyer.

“The Nigerian Police Force known for their professionalism failed woefully on 27th June, 2017 when their professionalism was put to question by  false whistle blowers; Barrister Gabriel Onyike Ogbonna alias Emperor, and Barrister A.I. Nwosu of number 136 Hospital Road, Aba.

” On that day, A.I. Nwosu invited me to his office by 12noon. As I came into his office, he called me a fake lawyer. He said Barrister Emperor told him that I am not a real lawyer.

” He said my stamp, seal for 2017, and enrolment number on the stamp, were all fake.

” Before I could say anything, two persons a man and a woman, came into the office. A.I. Nwosu introduced me as a fake lawyer, while the duo introduced themselves as police officers. ASP Loveday and Sergeant Charity Iheme, handcuffed me immediately like a common criminal and slapped me.

” The police officers dragged me out of the office and impounded  my pathfinder jeep. At the police station, they deflated all my car tyres and locked me up in the cell.

” My landlord Mr Uwa, came to the station, they told him I was arrested for being a fake lawyer. My landlord forcefully ejected me from his premises because of that.

” After two hours, the police brought me out of the cell, handcuffed me again, took me to my house, searched my house and took all my documents related to law without a court order nor warrant.

” As this was happening, I fell down and collapsed. I was rushed to Nisy Foundation Hospital, who diagnosed me of  having  shock trauma, anxiety neurosis and stressed related sickness. This contributed to my already ailing health also caused by the police on 27th March, 2017.

” The police assault made me partially paralyzed that I cannot stand for at least 10 minutes without sitting down.

” I developed high blood pressure, weak nerves which needs operation.

” The police abandoned the matter. They requested for N50,000 to go to the Supreme court of Nigeria, Abuja- to investigate if I am a real lawyer.

” I had to pay the money because the allegation of me being a fake lawyer was spreading wild.

” On January 13, 2020, Inspector Ikenna Anyim of Area Command, called me on phone saying congratulations you are a real lawyer. He said they have confirmed from the supreme court that I am a lawyer. They took 3 years after they had embarrassed me and destroyed my papers.

” ASP Loveday and  Sergeant Iheme, has not been sanctioned till today.

” I reported to the Abia State Commissioner of Police who issued signal that these officers should be sanctioned, but the Area Commander and the legal department of the Command, refused to carry out the instruction upto this moment” barrister Bishop narrated.

He pleaded a monetary compensation of N100M to aid him go for an operation.

The matter was adjourned for address.
