ABIA NORTH 2019: MAO OHUABUNWA IS SUBSERVIENT; ABIA UNDER THE STRANGLEHOLD OF TWO POLITICAL FAMILIES – CHIEF DR IHEME

A frontline senatorial aspirant and candidate of the Accord Party for Abia North Senatorial District, Chief Dr Kachi Iheme has called out his major opponents in the race; the incumbent Senator Mao Ohuabunwa and a former governor of Abia state, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, saying they belong to political families that have held the state hostage since the return of democracy in 1999.

Chief Iheme who spoke while fielding questions in an interactive session with Abia Facts’ Emenike Iroegbu on the program ‘Focal Point’ promised that his win will break the siege in Abia. Dr Iheme said “Abians have been suffering from the siege of two families since 1999. They have put fear in Abians, making it difficult for anyone to survive politically without them. So by breaking the siege, we will be free.

Our ‘Operation Take Over Abia’ which is to wipe out all appearances of what the past has been, as this siege on Abians must be broken this time around, through the instrumentality of the votes of the people we are sure to win. However, remember that I am running with a coalition ‘Abia Coalition Movement’, a group of people that feel we have suffered too much.”

Also speaking about his views as regards the performance of the current senator representing Abia North Senatorial district, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, he described him as a stooge and an appendage of the political family of Senator T.A Orji who does everything to oil the palms of his masters. This he said has hindered the people of the senatorial district, quality representation.

On his plans for the people, Dr Iheme guaranteed that his connection to several bodies is his selling point, as that will ensure he gets his job done absolutely. “Being an entrepreneur and having not worked for anybody, I have built enough goodwill and strong network which I am bringing to the table to ensure that there is even development. I will use my good will to attract both local and international investors; I will be a voice also that speaks for the women and children.”

On the issue of his political party and the structure he has on the ground to get the job done, he said that the coalition which he is part of is a strong force being that it is a coalition of several political parties that have come to use the resources of Abia to make Abia work for Abians.
