ABIA: Nkole calls for calm, urges IG to investigate the killing in Ohafia |PHOTOS

The member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency, Honorable Uko Nkole has called on the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu to immediately investigate and bring to book the Police Officer involved in the killing of one FRIDAY STANLEY OTA and also the injury of MIRACLE OLUGU.

 

In the press statement which was signed by the honorable member himself and sent to AFNews, he sympathized with the families of the young men and all those within the Ohafia vicinity and Ohafia/Arochukwu Federal Constituency as a whole and urge them to take heart.

 

He likewise called for calm and advised the people against taking laws into their hands.

 

The honorable member also visited the scene of the incident, the family of the bereaved and the damaged properties during the rampage. He equally visited those in the hospital and supported them with finances.

PRESS STATEMENT

Today, I have received with sadness, the news of the incidences involving two youths in Arochukwu /Ohafia Federal Constituency that resulted in the death of Mr. FRIDAY STANLEY OTA killed by a Policeman attached to Ohafia and another youth, MR. MIRACLE OLUGU sustaining gunshot wound at Ebem Ohafia lying critically ill in the hospital caused by the anti riot police squad drafted to quell the protest arising from the unacceptable circumstances .

2.) I wish to sympathise with the families of the young men and all those within the Ohafia vicinity and Ohafia/Arochukwu Federal Constituency as a whole and urge them to take heart.

3.) I also wish to appeal to all those understandably aggrieved by this unfortunate incident to please remain law abiding, not to take laws into their own hands and please cease all acts capable of threatening the peace in the area.

4.) I call on the Inspector General Of Police to ensure that the errant officers is brought to justice while urging all Security Agencies to please impress on their officials the need to ensure proper relations with the civil populace and abide by firearms handling regulations.

5.) May I also commiserate with our dear Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and the people of Abia State who are forced to deal with loss of lives to security agencies even when there is no single case of Coronavirus in Abia State and pray God to continue to grant him the wisdom to navigate the State these difficult times.
