In his bid to ensure an improved health care for the elderly in our society, the Minority Whip/member representing Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha, has lauded Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the free Home Health Care Services Initiative for the elderly in the State.
Speaking while joining a team of the Health Care Initiatives on a visit to the elderly in some communities in Arochukwu LGA, the lawmaker explained that the aged individuals in the society, deserve better treatment, adding that their proper caring, will enhance their longevity.
He thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for establishing the Free Home Health Care Initiative for the elderly, noting that the home services have been able to expose the team to the environmental living conditions of the elderly.
The Minority Whip stated that the establishment of the Initiative as a pilot programme, has gradually gravitated to a level that full agency is required to drive the vision.
On his part, the Coordinator of the Initiative, Dr. Chuks Emenike Osondu, hinted that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, is so passionate about the welfare of the elderly in the State, assuring that government will continue to remember them.
Some of the aged ones visited, include 80 years old Mazi Okorie Elekwe, from Amakofia, Ututu, Elder Onu Kalu and Augustine Okorie from Obiene, Ututu.
Others include Madam Mary Amah and Chief Eke Okpo from Umuzomgbo, Ihechiowa, as well as 82 years old Madam Grace Okwan, from Atan, Ihechiowa, and Mazi Agodichinma Umeh, from Amannagwu village, Arochukwu, among others.
After educating them on coronavirus pandemic, they were also informed on the preventive measures.
Gift items from the State government, such as Rice, Beans, Cartons of Noodles and hand sanitizers, were distributed to them during the visit.
