ABIA: Jubilation In Amangwu Community As Gov. Otti, CSDA Inspects Projects, Release Additional Funds
It was a moment of Jubilation at Amangwu community in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia state on Friday, June 9, 2023, as the executive governor of the state, Dr Alex Otti inspected projects facilitated by Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Abia state under the NG-CARES Program.
Inspecting the health care center and water borehole projects in Amangwu, his ancestral community, governor Alex Otti represented by his Special Adviser on Vulnerable Groups and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Ifeoma Thomas, lauded the project committee and the community at large for diligently using the first tranche of fund released to them to the roofing stage under three weeks.
“I am happy that a woman is in charge of this project. In three weeks, she has reached this milestone” the governor stated.
Presenting a cheque of the second tranche of fund for the completion of the project, the governor’s representative and the Head of Finance and Administration cum the Acting General Manager, CSDA, Mr. Ekejiuba Ekpo, charged the project committee led by Lady Charity Otti, to ensure that the projects are completed within the given time frame of 28days.
“The governor, Dr Alex Otti gave us permission to bring you the second tranche which is 50% of the fund for the project. We have seen the project, and we are happy” Ekpo said.
The CSDA/NG-CARES Program, is a Federal Government and World Bank assisted program used in helping communities to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
The fund released to Amangwu Community on Friday, is the first fund released by CSDA-NG-CARES Program under governor Alex Otti’s administration. The projects are expected to be completed in the next one week.
Break down of funds released for Amangwu projects is below:
First tranche:
Total cost of the two projects – N13,446,908.04.
Agency’s contribution – N12,774,562.64 (95%).
Community’s contribution- N672,345.40 (5%).
Cost of health centre construction/equipment – N9,186,837.76.
Community’s contribution – N459,341.89.
First tranche cheque given on May 18, 2023 – N2,618,248.76 (30%).
Cost of drilling water borehole/reticulation – N4,260,070.28.
Community’s contribution -N213,003.51 (5%).
Second tranche cheque for the two projects presented on June 9, 2023:
Health center construction/equipment – N4,363,747.94 (50%).
Drilling of water borehole/reticulation -N2,023,533.38 (50%).
Total amount presented – 6,387,281.32.
Other projects inspected by the governor on Friday are; already constructed health centre project and water borehole in Elu Ohafia and reconstruction of science laboratory/equipment in Afugiri girls secondary school including drilling of water borehole for the community.
