ABIA: Isuikwuato Unity Walk Unites The People Across Party Lines |SEE PHOTOS

The people of Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia state, on Monday, January 3, 2022, took to the road for a Unity Fitness Walk.

 

The Unity Walk which was convened by the Isuikwuato LGA Chairman, Honorable Chima Agbaeze, had in participation, sons and daughters of the land-based at home and abroad.

Speaking to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER, Hon. Agbaeze described the walk as part of the vision to promote unity, peace and also brotherly love.

 

“Via this walk, we want to bring all the people of Isuikwuato together because we believe that we will be greater together”

 

He went further to reveal that the unity walk is founded on the “Nwanneukwu spirit (brotherly spirit) and was not politically motivated.

 

The Chairman appreciated God for keeping the people throughout last year even in the face of kidnapping and insecurity.

He noted that though the insecurity challenge has not been totally eradicated, it has reduced to the barest minimum.

“Today Isuikwuato is peaceful. We are thanking God for seeing this year 2022- this year we are going to have a bumper harvest and we are ready to serve our people and bring the dividends of democracy to the people of Isuikwuato.”

 

 

On his own part, a governorship aspirant in the state for 2023, Onyekwere Akym Uche, expressed gratitude to the LG Chairman for organizing the sport event.

 

“This goes a long way to show that when youths are in power, they bring in good things and that’s why am trying to bring in good things by running for the Abia state governorship position come 2023.

 

He noted that there are plans on ground for the betterment of Isuikwuato and Abia.

 

Uche also charged the people to embrace unity, love and progress.

Another participant, Sir Dave Agwala who delved into the anticipated 2023 elections, said all political parties are expected to pick a candidate from Isuikwuato axis for the governorship election which according to him, is the turn of the people of Isuikwuato district.

” This year (2022) is very special because this is the year that candidates will emerge. We expect that all political parties will produce Isuikwuato candidates for governorship because it’s our turn.

 

The acronym ‘Abia’, that ‘I’ is Isuikwuato. Every other letter in that acronym has taken their own turn”

 

Similarly, Mba Ndubuisi, former All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) House of Assembly candidate for Umuahia Central in the 2019 election, said it is long overdue for power to be transferred to Isuikwuato.

 

” It is an overdue thing. Am back and ready… It must be Isuikwuato or nothing. If you check Abia politics, we’ve been relegated. We have capacity, we have men. So why wouldn’t in democracy, we shouldn’t be allowed to show our capacity? So, it’s the right time for Isuikwuato and am sure that all the political elites in Abia state are aware that this is our time”.

A daughter of Isuikwuato Onyinye Obi adduce that the walk was to promote unity and awareness for healthy living.

 

” This walk is meant to unite the people. We are doing it in brotherly, sisterly love, we are all home for the Christmas celebration so as we walk, we discuss issues.

 

It is also to get people to be conscious of keeping fit, being healthy, as you change your life style, you live a healthier life.

 

On the expectations of Isuikwuato people from the elites in the year 2022, she said,

 

“2022 is a great year because great things are going to happen this year; more development, we will strive very hard to make things happen. Things are going to happen; more projects are going to come up”.
