The governorship election battle for 2023 has gotten more intense as the first female gubernatorial aspirant Oluchi Victoria Bradford Ogwo (AdaUgo Abia) has formally joined the race. During her declaration yesterday 6th May 2022, she revealed that the major problem of Abia State is the silence of good men and women in the state.

 

“The tragedy of Abia state is the silence of good men and women who kept quiet while those who are visionless run the state like their personal property. I will provide an exemplary, creative and result oriented creative leadership that is antidote for the reduction of corruption and inefficiency in Abia state. Integrity will be the core principle of my administration. A  blue print on how to sanitize the civil service and make it more efficient and productive will be provided by our administration. Our children’s future will be saved through qualitative education. I assure Abians that the ugly narrative in our education system will end. As a mother, every child will go to school from primary to university level because our team shall provide a system that will make room for all our children to be educated.”

Declaration Speech By Oluchi Victoria Bradford ogwo (AdaUgo Abia) During Her Official Declaration Of Intent To Run For Abia Governorship On Friday, May 6, 2022

According to late American civil rights activist Cesar Chavez said: “The end of all knowledge should be service to others”

 

It is commonly said that politicians think of next election while leaders think of next generation. At no other time than now does Abia State need her citizens to put their hands on the plough and support me to save the state from the shackles of the chain held in the jugulars by indifferent and inept politicians. I am not your regular politicians but I am a woman who heard the pulse of the cry of the people. I am well prepared to salvage the state. The economy of the state is in tatters and poverty ravages the land, yet, Abians including many in the diaspora, have been found exceptional as solution providers. The utmost therefore must be done to engage the best hands in the liberation mandate of rescuing Abia state.

 

The present Government, of course cannot be compel any Abians with knowledge or skills to come home and work for the state except the atmosphere is made conducive and incentive. This will be one of my priorities to bring the desired peace and security we have lost as a result of unemployment, lack of moral values, and waste of resources.

 

It is obvious that Abia is beset with poor leadership.

Many are often discouraged by what they see of how researchers, scientists and experts who stay back or work in the state are treated by the system. This  will change because my administration will look at the loop holes and inefficiency in the system and provide a credible solution that will take care of it. Facility and resources must be made available for technocrats, skilled and non skilled men, innovative individuals and organization in Abia for the state to be truly rebuilt.

 

The state regrettably is currently and hardly attractive to anyone who seeks excellence in his field  of endeavor especially with such necessities as basic as good roads, regular electricity, and water supply not available. My administration will pay due attention to rural and urban renewals. This is contained in my manifesto.

 

It is trite even to say that if our environment is conducive, foreign investors will come in. Abians in different countries and state in Nigeria would return to this state in droves. Professionals need certain things to function optimally. Top on my list  of seven point agenda is a Technology Development, Standard Education For Our Children, Construction Of Road Network, Employment Opportunity, A Steady Power Supply For Businesses In The State. Moreover, quality health care will be provided to tackle the menace of child and mortality rate in Abia. Moreover, if facilities such as a good general hospitals in all the local government is put into place , it will help doctors to perform surgical operations successfully, researchers to conduct experiments and training of health workers to tackle the breakout of any diseases. In the area of sports, the state will experience a new dawn of a golden era. Having been a sports personality, I will ensure that sports will be used as a development tool to engage the youths. The academia will also be engaged to carry out research and experiment that will lead the breakthrough. Improved seeds in Agriculture will be provided to all farmers in Abia State while we strive to ensure that we maintain a green resolution in the Agriculture sector of the state. Technologists will be an integral part of my administration because the world is now a global village. They would design the new government house which will be completed in the third year of our administration. believe me, great citizens of Abia, I have the energy, capacity, and abilities to carry out every single promise I have made here. My word is my bond. It is a fact that the United States  of American’s large federal budget for research and development has been the country’s “secret weapon which enabled it to achieve the domination of the world.” Our security will be enhanced to secure lives and properties. Reclaiming Abia from the brinks is our divine mandate.

 

Join me as we march to recover Abia state and stamp our feet on the sands of time as men and women who loved and cherish the God’s own state.
