ABIA GOVT DONATES MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO AGBOJI HEALTH CENTER, ABIRIBA

As part of ongoing efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in Abia, the State Government has handed over medical equipment worth millions of naira to a primary healthcare facility in Agboji community in Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area.

The donation which is in line with the promise of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to ensure that primary healthcare facilities  in the state are further improved to support his administration’s healthcare agenda of extending life expectancy in the state above national average was from the medical equipment container recently received from the Diaspora.

Presenting the equipment to Elu Agboji Primary Health Care Center, Abiriba, on behalf of the State Government, Abia State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, said the materials will help support improvements in healthcare which is one of the enablers of the five development pillars of Governor Ikpeazu’s administration and called on members of the community to protect and ensure optimal use of the materials to cater for patients.

Chief Okiyi who used the occasion to thank the Agboji community and Abiriba Kingdom for their massive support to Governor Ikpeazu during the recently concluded 2019 Governorship election assured that every dividend of democracy that is due to them will be provided by the administration in appreciation for their unconditional love and support to the Governor and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Abia Information boss who revealed that the state government is reviewing the working condition of Akahaba General Hospital including a detailed auditing of the personnel and other resources with a view to returning the facility to a world class hospital, also called on the people to exercise patience as work will soon restart at the Agboji end of the Abiriba Ring Road project.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the community, His Royal Highness, Eze Benjamin Uche Agu, Effa of Agboji,, who was visibly excited, described the medical equipment as the first of its kind in the community and thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for remembering the community.

He assured that the equipment will be put to good use for the maximum benefit of the people.

Eze Benjamin prayed God to grant the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, more wisdom and strength to pilot the affairs of the state and pledged the unalloyed support of members of the community to his administration.
