ABIA: Gov. Ikpeazu Emerge Governor Of The Year In SMEs | READ DETAILS

The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has emerged the governor of the year, in Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).

The award was conferred on Governor Ikpeazu by the Daily Telegraph Newspaper.

The commissioner for information, Eze Chikamnayo, made this known.during a press conference in government House Umuahia, on Wednesday, November 17.

The commissioner maintained that Abia remains the trophy holder in Small and Medium Scale Enterprises having been confirmed also by the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan who categorically stated that under governor Ikpeazu, a generational achievement has been made in SMEs.

Chikamnayo added that every other person who is saying otherwise, is saying so out of ignorance.

Recall that on Thursday, November 11, 2021, the Senate President was in Aba the commercial city of the state, to commission the Enyimba Automated Shoe Factory (ENASCO) which was facilitated by governor Ikpeazu.

Speaking on the collapsed Faulks road in Aba, the commissioner blamed it on traders who attract heavy duty vehicles on the road which contractors had earlier barricaded pending the completion of the project.

He said tile dealers came to him crying that they had lost their capitals as they were not making sales. The governor decided to open a lane to enable them go about their businesses and alleviate pains. Unfortunately, the traders removed the barricades and spoil the road with heavy duty trucks.

“contractors barricaded Faulks road and said nobody should use Faulks road they have not completed their project. All these tile dealers- I was special adviser media to the governor then, and they came at the lodge -some were crying that they have lost almost all their capital………. the governor said lets see how we can open one lane for you people to bring in your goods. As it is usual with our people; how they removed that barricade and always quarreling with security people there, always fighting, that place became a bad spot and they brought in the trailers back…. and you know how heavy those trailers are and they have spoil the place and have turned around to attack the government.”

He said the technical challenge facing the Faulks road is that traders pressurized and went against the advise of contractors.
