Abia Assembly Approves Financial Autonomy To LG, Judiciary | READ DETAILS
The Abia State House of Assembly, have approved financial autonomy to Local Governments, Judicial Commission and the State House of Assembly.
The House gave the approval on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, during plenary, headed by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji.
The financial autonomy, forms part of H.A.B. 57 : The Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (Fifth Alteration).
A Bill for a Law to provide for the 5th Alteration of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria through the amendment of listed sections.
According to the Speaker, the House will continue the consideration of the remaining part of the Bill on the next Legislative Day having deliberated on the other part.
Hon. Solomon Akpulonu, Majority Leader of the House moved for adjournment of plenary and was seconded by Hon. Kelechi Onuzuruike, Member representing Umuahia North State Constituency.
The House adjourned plenary till Wednesday, June 2, 2022.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had on May 20, 2020, signed into law the Executive Order 10 which grants financial autonomy to the legislature and the judiciary.
