Umunneochi political leaders gather as Mazi Ugochukwu Innocent Obi hosts Abia Arise members, sends strong signals ahead of 2027 elections.
Umunneochi Local Government Area took a decisive political tone at the start of 2026 as Mazi Ugochukwu Innocent Obi hosted members of Abia Arise Umunneochi LGA Chapter, the political structure of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, in a high-powered New Year gathering that has since sent strong signals across Abia North.
The strategic meeting, held on January 4, 2026, at Mazi Obi’s country home in Ngodo Isuiochi, was both a celebration of Governor Otti’s performance and a mobilisation platform ahead of the 2027 general elections. The event recorded full attendance of the Abia Arise Umunneochi leadership, including the Chapter Coordinator and key grassroots stakeholders.
Setting the mood, Mazi Ugochukwu Innocent Obi opened his address with a charismatic song, metaphorically declaring that “the train of Governor Alex Otti is moving through Umunneochi”, while urging sons and daughters of the LGA to jump aboard without hesitation.
He warmly welcomed Abia Arise members and described Governor Otti as “a good man who genuinely deserves the full support of Umunneochi people.” According to him, the essence of the gathering was clear and non-negotiable: total backing for the actions, reforms, and leadership direction of Governor Alex Otti.
Mazi Obi stressed that Abia Arise operates with one mind, one purpose, and one vision, warning that without unity, Umunneochi risks losing its strategic relevance in Abia politics.
“Without one mind and one purpose, Umunneochi cannot achieve what it intends to achieve,” he cautioned.
He charged members to commit themselves fully to the success of the Otti administration, insisting that supporting good governance is a collective responsibility, not a selective one.
In a clear signal that preparations for 2027 have begun, Mazi Obi urged members to start political groundwork immediately, particularly at the grassroots level.
He specifically called on eligible voters without Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to act without delay, declaring:
The message resonated strongly with attendees, many of whom described the gathering as both inspirational and strategic.
Confident in the growing strength of Abia Arise in Umunneochi, Mazi Obi assured members that future gatherings would witness far larger numbers, a reflection of rising grassroots support for Governor Otti’s administration.
Observers say the meeting further cements Mazi Ugochukwu Innocent Obi’s role as a key mobiliser and stabilising force within Abia Arise, particularly in Umunneochi LGA.
