The honorable member representing Aba North/South Federal Constituency at the national assembly, Honorable Prestige Ossy has finally spoken up on the leadership issue bedeviling Abia State All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).  In an exclusive message sent to Abia Facts News and on phone interaction, the honorable member advised APGA members and all progressives to immediately shun things that will divide us and focus on things that will unite us.

The honorable member made it clear that leadership is from God and that he is ready to follow anyone who has sincere passion and zeal to change Abia State for better. He further explained that orchestration of the term “Leader of the Party” is a precursory to unhealthy rivalry which is unnecessary.

He went further to emphasize on the need for the party to be united especially after coming out of what he termed a “Traumatic Election” with alleged widespread election malpractice.

READ FULL MESSAGE;

I have maintained a studied silence over the recent misunderstanding within our Party in the State.

Ordinarily, one wouldn’t have been worried but for the obvious extraneous influences that are threatening to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Either following from the provisions of the Party’s Constitution or the conventional template of Political Parties in Nigeria, the dramatic orchestration of the ‘appointment’ of the “Leader of the Party” in the State is rather unfortunate, avoidable and precursory to unhealthy rivalry within the leadership rank of the Party in the State.

The Party has just come out of a traumatic election where it is challenging some of the results of the said election, alleging widespread unwholesome electoral practices that undermined the credibility of the election outcome.

What we need now is unity of purpose in our quest for redress at the Tribunals.

The party has hitherto operated a collective leadership regimen without any special coronation and this has promoted unity and party cohesion and discouraged undue rivalry.

While we make efforts to put our house in order and close ranks, we call on our leaders to show restraints in our utterances and conduct.

I restate my confidence in the untiring efforts of our Party Leaders in the State especially our Governorship Candidate, Dr. Alex Otti and also the APGA State Exco ably led by Rev. Augustine Ehiemere.
