Abia Activates Full Security Architecture Over Renewed Umunneochi Insecurity | READ DETAILS

Umunneochi is back in the headlines after fresh security breaches and fatalities. Find out how the Abia State Government is responding with forceful action to protect lives.

Following recent security breaches in Umunneochi Local Government Area, which resulted in the loss of lives, the Abia State Government has vowed to take decisive action to restore peace and protect law-abiding citizens in the area.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, made this known on Monday while briefing journalists at the Government House, Umuahia, on the outcome of the week’s Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.

According to the Commissioner, the state is deeply disturbed by the renewed violence and killings in Umunneochi and will not fold its arms while criminal elements destabilize communities and destroy innocent lives.

“We have recorded some security breaches in the Umunneochi axis, and unfortunately, there have been fatalities. The state government is treating this as a matter of urgent concern,” Prince Kanu declared.

He revealed that all security agencies in the state have been placed on full alert, with Governor Otti directing the activation of Abia’s entire security architecture, which includes collaboration with conventional security outfits and local intelligence networks.

The Commissioner emphasized that the state will not tolerate criminality in any form, especially in areas previously plagued by insecurity.

“We are committed to addressing every aspect of this issue. The safety of our people is paramount. Anyone found threatening the peace of Abia will face the full wrath of the law,” he warned.

The government has also assured residents of Umunneochi and other affected areas that swift and coordinated action is underway to ensure such attacks do not reoccur.

It will be recalled that Umunneochi has, over the years, been the epicenter of criminal operations including kidnappings, banditry, and cult-related killings. However, under the Otti administration, a renewed offensive against insecurity has been ongoing — and this latest incident is viewed as a serious challenge to that effort.

Residents have been advised to remain calm, security conscious, and report suspicious movements, while the government continues its push to rid the area of hoodlums and restore lasting peace.
