The Abia State Labour Party gubernatorial candidate Dr. Alex Otti, has given an insight into his rail project plan while interacting with Agbama community leaders and residents of Agbama Housing Estate.

The renowned economist made the commitment on Monday, 9th January, 2023, when he paid a visit to the Traditional Ruler of Agbama Commubity, HRH Eze Cajetan Ifeanacho in his palace at Agbama Housing Estate, Umuahia.

Addressing the people, Dr. Otti promised to remodel the state through massive investment in road and rail infrastructure, healthcare and education.

In his words, “I have already spoken to experts on the rail project, which will begin from Ukwa, cutting through Aba, Isiala Ngwa, Umuahia, Ohafi to Arochukwu. This will boost economic growth in the state and reduce dependence on our roads.

When you go to Aba, or come to Umuahia where you have the seat of power, you can’t find quality roads. Not because the state government can not do it, but rather because they don’t want to develop the state. Ebonyi State has left Abia behind. Quality road construction is not rocket science”.

The Labour Party candidate also regretted the sorry state of education in Abia, stressing that education would be at the center of the developmental strides his administration would bring to Abia when he assumes office as the governor of the state.

He said, “In Abia, you have millions of intelligent graduates who can’t find labour for their hands. When you don’t invest in the education of your people, you are making the state a safe haven for criminality and poverty. Our administration will map out huge amounts of funds in the state budget for education”, he concluded.

In the same vain, Dr. Otti also met and received a loud endorsement from the people of Agbama, and the Agbama Housing Estate Neighborhood Support Group For Alex Otti(AHENSGAO). The group which has large members in and around Umuahia South LGA, read out the needs of the people to the LP guber candidate, and promised to mobilize the whole community for Dr. Alex Otti and other Labour Party candidates from the Presidential to the State Assembly elections.

The ex-bank chief also made a brief stop at the residence of Chief F C. Nwadinobi, where he dialogued with party leaders and stakeholders in the LGA.

In company of the Labour Party governorship candidate were Hon. Emeka Jacob Obioma (Tommy) who is the Abia State House of Assembly candidate for Umuahia South; Hon. Obi Aguocha, Labour Party candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal House of Reps. Constituency, and a large number of party leaders and stakeholders.
