A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) in Abia State, Sir Friday Nwosu, has said Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South) would have performed better as the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
According to him, Abaribe has failed to deliver democracy dividends to his constituents in his 12 year stay at the National Assembly.
Nwosu spoke at his Mgboko Umuoria country home in Obingwa Local Government Area when he received the APC senatorial candidate for Abia South, Marc Wabara. He alleged that Abaribe has declared war on President Muhammadu Buhari, even as his constituents suffer from unemployment, poverty and poor infrastructure.
He said that in 2019, the people of Abia South would elect a senator who has the capacity to partner the Federal Government instead of declaring war.
He said: “Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has forgotten about his duties as a lawmaker to declare war on the President. We didn’t send him to abuse Buhari, but to attract dividends of democracy to Abia South which he has failed to do. We must not re-elect him; 12 years is not 12 days, it is enough for any senator to make impact, rather he has declared war on the Federal Government.
“He has declared himself the ‘sword of Ndigbo’. But there is nothing wrong declaring himself sword of Ndigbo or Igbo champion. However, we must ensure that when the tenure of the Chief Nnia Nwodo-led executive expires, Abaribe is elected; he will serve better as the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo than as a senator.
“Abaribe has got the clout to become the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, this is why he is called sword of Ndigbo. However, the sword of Ndigbo will put us in trouble in Abia because nobody declares war on the Federal Government and survives it. Even the one Ojukwu led didn’t augur well for Ndigbo, we don’t want another war. It is better for somebody like Chief Ralph Uwazuruike t
“We need a senator who will rather partner the Federal Government to address the unemployment, poverty and poor infrastructure in Abia South. We have rehabilitated Abaribe for 12 years, we didn’t send him to attract war because if there is war in Abia South, he will run away and leave the people to suffer.”
Wabara promised to his use his contacts to attract democracy dividends to the zone and urged the people to reject politicians who have nothing to offer the people.
He said he is going to the senate to bring change and democratic development which the people have been denied in the last 12 years. (Thenation)
