Abaribe Hails Governor Otti’s Transformation of Abia: ‘He Has Set the Pace, No Room for Slacking’

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe praises Governor Alex Otti for his transformative leadership in Abia State, urging him to sustain the pace of development. Read details of the exclusive interaction;

The former Senate Minority Leader and serving Senator for Abia South, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has given high praise to Governor Alex Otti for his transformative leadership in Abia State, stating that the governor has set a new standard that must be maintained.

Speaking in an interview marking his 70th birthday, Abaribe expressed admiration for the visible improvements in Aba and other parts of the state, urging Otti to stay committed to his progressive agenda. According to the senator, the level of infrastructural development and urban renewal under Otti’s administration has been unprecedented.

Reflecting on a recent visit to Aba, Abaribe described the city’s current state as ‘amazing,’ highlighting the cleanliness and improved road network. He specifically pointed out the ease of movement from Ngwa Road to Ogbor Hill, a feat he noted had never been possible before Otti assumed office.

“When I came back and we were running through Aba yesterday, it was amazing. It was clean. The place is very well kept. And you can now drive from Ngwa Road and just go all the way down to Ogbor Hill. This has never happened before,” he said.

Abaribe emphasized that the progress in Abia is not just about projects but also about the governor’s commitment to changing the narrative of governance in Abia State.

The senator noted that Governor Otti’s performance has raised the expectations of Abians, who now look forward to more development. He revealed that his constituents regularly send him updates about the governor’s achievements and requests for further interventions.

“My constituents come and tell me. In fact, what they do now is send me messages every day about what is happening in different places. They want me to tell the governor to help them. So, I’m even sorry for him because he has already set the pace. He can’t afford to slack anymore,” Abaribe said.

He stressed that once a leader starts delivering exceptional results, the people demand more, which means that Governor Otti must sustain his momentum to meet the high expectations of Abians.

Abaribe, who has been a strong advocate for effective governance, pointed out that the essence of leadership is prioritizing the welfare of the people. He criticized past administrations that deviated from their constitutional responsibilities after assuming office, adding that governance should not be overcomplicated.

“The welfare of the people is why you were sworn into office. The constitution is very clear about the fundamental objectives of state policy. Governance is not rocket science; it is about focused leadership. Just provide that focus, and everything else will work,” he stated.

He further urged Governor Otti to ensure that his team aligns with his vision, as effective governance requires a united front among subordinates.

Abaribe’s endorsement of Governor Otti’s leadership underscores the governor’s impact in just a short time. The commendation from a seasoned politician like Abaribe suggests that Otti’s policies and developmental strides are being recognized beyond party lines.

As Abians continue to enjoy the benefits of a more responsive government, the key question remains: can Governor Otti sustain this momentum and keep up with the growing demands of the people?

For now, one thing is clear—there is no room for slacking.
