The governor of Abia State has ordered the payment of one to two months salary arrears to Abia workers in Health Management Board,Secondary Schools,Abia State College of Education, Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH).

The governor who made this known through his verified twitter handle @GovernorIkpeazu said the issue of wage bill is a knotty issue in a clime such as ours especially with regards,to agencies and Parastatals who ordinarily are supposed to be self-sustaining in terms of revenue generation and prompt service delivery.

The Abia governor stated that ,however the reality is that these agencies indulge in over staffing and poor fiscal procedure leading to bloated wages which the subvention of such agencies cannot carry.

The Gov Okezie Ikpeazu also stated that in a the spirit of a new Abia ,his government has decided to embark on a systematic replacement of managers of government agencies found wanting in the discharge of their duties ,he further stated that his administration will support strategies aimed at improving Internally generated revenue (IGR) .

The governor stated that for the staff of the agencies to be paid their December salary and the outstanding arrears, he insisted that staff verification using Bank Verification Number (BVN) and bank details must happen before the approved fund for payment of December salary and the 1-2months arrears are released to real and authenticated staffs, only, saying that his government will arrest the bleeding in these agencies and Parastatals.
