The Street Journal has learnt that all the security officers involved in the encounter that led to gunshots at Aso Rock recently have been released and redeployed to new locations.
The security aides redeployed were previously attached to the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, including her Aide-De-Camp, Usman Shugaba and Escort Commander. However, their new positions are not known.
Recall that The Street Journal had earlier reported that Aisha Buhari had approached Tunde to follow the COVID-19 guidelines, following his alleged refusal to go on self-isolation for 14 days.
The first lady’s encounter with Tunde escalated after security personnel got involved and shot into the air, breaching the security protocol at Aso Rock.
This fracas led to the arrest of security aides attached to Mrs Buhari, including her Aide-De-Camp, Shugaba, and Escort Commander.
The first lady who was unhappy with the move by the police authorities took to her Twitter handle to call on the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to free her ADC and other police aides who were taken into custody.
Sources revealed that President Buhari who was not disturbed about the development (since Tunde returned the day he travelled to Lagos, a situation which may not require self-isolation), however, has ordered an investigation into the security breach at Aso Rock.
In a statement on Sunday, Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu said the president was not under any form of danger arising, either from deadly infections or the reported incident by security personnel currently under investigation.
The Nigeria Police Force and other top security details at Aso Rock have declined to comment on the incidence.
