Based on a Press Release sent to AFNEWS, some fraudulent individuals in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State are collecting burial levy in the name of approvals for applications, from unsuspecting bereaved families for the burials of their demised relations.

ISUIKWUATO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA.
It has come to the authorities of Isuikwuato local government area, that some unscrupulous elements have turned themselves into ugly and fraudulent activities of collecting money in the name of approvals for applications, from unsuspecting bereaved families for the burials of their demised relations.
Consequently, the Transition Committee Chairman, Isuikwuato local government area, Dr Osita Igbe, who frowned at this ugly and disheartening development, regretted that some faceless, fraudulent, and wicked actors could be such heartless to exploit others even in their moment of grief this difficult period occasioned by COVID-19 lockdown.
Dr Osita Igbe, therefore, wish to restate that at no time did Isuikwuato local government area Management agreed to collect even a dime from families or individuals conducting burials, and can never contemplate such wickedness, while he enjoined those planning for burials of their deceased ones never to fall for such exploitations, but rather write a letter of notification and authorization to the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, through the office of the Chairman Isuikwuato local government area, assuring that such letters are transmitted to Abia SSG’s who gives immediate approvals to such requests which he usually obliges without hindrance.
Dr Igbe therefore warns Traditional Rulers, Town Union Executives, Transition Committee Councillors, Supervisory Councillors, and other relevant Stakeholders to desist from any act that could be inimical or jeopardize the reputation of Isuikwuato local government area Management, warning that anybody caught in such act of criminality must be arrested and be made to face the consequences, while the security agencies in the council have been placed on red alert to ensure sanity.
The Council Boss however commiserates with all bereaved families in Isuikwuato local government area over the loss of their loves ones, and enjoined them to bear the loss with fortitude and prayed God to grant their souls eternal rest in his bosom.
