The Delta State government in its continuous drive to get rid of shanties and shift markets in an attempt to make Asaba the capital a truly modern city has demolished the popular Ama-Hausa in Abraka Market. The Ama Hausa in Abraka market is populated by Northern traders who live as well as trade their.

The Demolition was led by the Director-General, Delta State Capital Development Agency (DSCDA), Asaba, Mrs Onyemaechi Mrakpor .Mrs Mrakpor in the company of her task force and security agencies supervised the demolition of the market which the agency claimed is defacing the city .However this demolition did not come without any form of resistance from the Hausa traders who confronted the security agencies and task force in a bid to protect their homes and goods .An eyewitness who spoke to AFNEWS , claimed that two Hausa traders lost their live to the barrel of security agents, however as at the time of filling this report all effort to confirm this from the Police leadership in the state has proved abortive.

The Delta State Capital Development Agency Agency also claimed that they have issued an eviction notice to these traders which has elapsed since last year,in view of this force eviction became inevitably.
