…urged to be good ambassador
The member elect, for Essien Udim State Constituency, Barr. Ese Umoh, was today sworn in by Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey.
Performing the exercise, the Speaker congratulated ESE and urged him to be good ambassador of the 7th Assembly and ensure he covers lost grounds.
The Speaker further urged the new lawmaker to be committed in his new assignment of making laws for the peace and progress of Akwa Ibom State.
The Speaker administered the Oaths of office and allegiance on the new lawmaker at Tuesday plenary, thus, bringing the composition of the House to 26 members.
Recall that Barr. Umoh won the Essien Udim State Constituency supplementary election held on January 25, 2020, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was subsequently issued with a Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He garnered 18,999 votes to defeat his close rival, Hon. Nse Ntuen of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) who polled 7,108 votes.
Speaking with AF News Reporter shortly after taking oaths, the highly elated ESE thanked members of the Assembly for standing by him throughout his trying period. He also thanked His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel and leadership of the PDP in the state for their support and invaluable contributions towards his emergence. He promised to abide the House rules, and ensure that his people gets the best in terms of Representation. He called on all those who lost out to join hands with him in building a united and prosperous constituency.
