Transportation in Abia state not withstanding isn’t left out as Gods own state which also doubles as a commercial hub for Nigerians as experts and specialists have enumerated challenges the sector faces even as other huge challenges in the important fields of transport planning and management resurrects.

Against this back drop the seasoned media team of AFNews set out not only to investigate transport-related problems but also to contribute to innovative solutions to the specific problems faced by the transport sector in Abia State.

The AFNews team which is focused on checkmating the progress and updating the general public on the happenings within ministries and agencies was able to have a media chat with the Abia State Transportation commissioner, Barrister Moses Ekele Nwaohammuo.

The commissioner who highlighted the improvement of the different transport system and stressed an even meticulous improvement as the days go by, was happy to welcome the team as he used the opportunity to clear the air on certain issues. The issue of insecurity which was been carried out using various means of transportation he assured the citizenry of making the state safe. (FULL VIDEO AT THE END OF THE STORY)

He also stressed that investors are working and more are welcomed to work in the state as the government will as a matter of fact support them where necessary, and should be well registered to avoid being used as tools in the hand of hoodlums.

More also he maintained that people need not be weary of government reforms as it is for the good of the people, where he sent out stern warnings to the tricycle factions in the state not to constitute nuisance and a continued enforcement on branding of all

The issues of the backlogs on salaries for Abia Line Transport services has well been taken care of, according to the commissioner, Government is paying and because of the issue the company has over time experienced inefficiency in its services and assured the team government is working towards revitalizing the company.

Over the frivolous and disturbing developments of parks littering in around the state, the commissioner maintained the extensive measures he, alongside with other stakeholders most especially other members of the management of the commission are taking in curbing the menace of illegal park where he identified 200 illegal parks alone.

The Honorable commissioner highlighted a number of measures which includes taking a critical look at the parks which need licensing and facelifts and swing in appropriately and also look at a way of integrating this park into the government system. Those that need expansion will be expanded and those that require renovation will be renovated to adequate standards and furthermore revealed the introduction of facilities all over the state to help determine the road worthiness of vehicle so as to help remove rickety car off our roads.

On a final note the commissioner advised the people of Abia to exercise patience as all challenges will be dealt with appropriately, he also enjoined the governmental bodies charged with eradicating intoxicants and its use in parks to synergize with the commission for a successful and sustainable sector.
