Following the circumstances that led to the burning of some houses around Ibere Street, Ngwa Road Aba by some suspected Policemen on Tuesday, the member who represents Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Prestige Ossy, has appeal for calm and pleaded with the Nigerian Police officials to sheath their swords and allow law to take its course.

Ossy, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr Henry Nna, said while the killing of a police officer was condemnable, the alleged action of the police was uncalled for, saying the primary duty of the police was to save lives rather than inflict hardship on the people they were meant to protect. He said he had cut short his trip and, on his way, back to have on the spot assessment of the incident.

The Abia federal lawmaker also said he had contacted heads of various security agencies to forestall any breakdown of law and that he would do everything within his power to ensure the perpetrators of the heinous act face the full wrath of the law, even as he advised residents of the area to be vigilant and report any suspected sinister movement around them.
