A human rights activist Mr. Sopuruchukwu Igwe has call on the government and the law enforcement agencies to as a matter of urgency look into the inhuman and abuse being meted out on children as such is now on the increase in our society.

Mr. Igwe said that this has become necessary following a scene he witnessed where a boy of 12 years old who gave his name as Ugonna Prince Enoch was being flogged with an electrical cable by his elder brother, noting that such treatment was wrong and unacceptable.
Speaking in an interview, with Abia Facts online reporter, the mother of master Ugonna, Mrs. Esther Enoch explained that what led to his son being flogged with an electrical cable was because he is a stubborn child and has refused to heed to their advice in the home.

Mrs. Enoch however said that the unavailability of a Cain moved Ugonna’s elder brother who is a commercial driver to flog him with the cable, adding that the little boy needs to be taught a lesson of his life so that he will no longer be a stubborn child.

Reacting further, Mr. Igwe harped on the need for government to make laws that will help children and prevent them from unnecessary abuse and maltreatment by individuals, saying that such was unacceptable.
He call on Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and other well-meaning Abians to join hands in condemning the evil being meted out on the children so as to make them have a sense of belonging in our society.
