.. These protesters are miscreants, not APC members , ben Godson fires

A coalition of youths from Ukwa on Saturday staged a peaceful protest at Obehie protesting against the petition written by those they described as anti-progressives who are bent on drawing Ukwa and Abia backwards.

The youths who trouped out in in large numbers blocked Obehie junction carrying placards with different inscriptions and calling on president Muhammadu Buhari to disregard the attempts by some hitherto unknown elements who masquerade as Indigenes of Ukwa land to mislead him into withdrawing the nomination of Hon. Nwogu N. Nwogu into the board of NDDC as the Abia representative.

The youths condemned the statement credited to the publicity Secretary of the APC wherein he called on president to cancel the nomination of Nwogu Nwogu on the grounds that he (Nwogu N. Nwogu) is not known in Ukwa west and not an APC member. The youths dismissed the assertion as false and described Hon .Nwogu as one of the founders of the party in Ukwa west and also bonafide son of Ukwa who had contributed immensely towards the advancement of the youths and development of ASA land.

The youths hailed the nomination of Hon. Nwogu N. Nwogu by president Buhari and thanked the president for making his nominations based on the provisions of the NDDC law.

Addressing the crowd, Comrade Obum from Ukwa East and leader of the Grand Council of Niger Delta Youth Council condemned the petition by Ben Godson against and insisted that Hon. Nwogu is not only qualified for the appointment but has worked hard towards the upliftment of Ukwa and Niger Delta, he said Hon. Nwogu has been supporting and assisting Niger Delta youths and their struggle for the development of the region, he described Hon. Nwogu as a patriot who had contributed so much for Ukwa and the APC and therefore deserves the reappointment into the board of the NDDC.

Also speaking Comr. Charles Samankwe the youth president of Umunneato community in Ukwa west, the home of the nominee said Hon. Nwogu single handedly brought APC into Ukwa west and has injected both human and material resources to ensure that the party gained grounds in Ukwa west during the last election, he described Ben Godson as unpopular and that his position on the nomination of Hon. Nwogu by Mr Nwogu as misguided.

Prince Ezere Chukwunonso the crown prince of Umunneato in his own submission said the call by Ben Godson against the nomination of Nwogu Nwogu a bonafide Ukwa son and one of the founders of the APC in Ukwa is fallacious, condemnable and unprogressive, describing the statement as deceitful and therefore called on the leadership of the APC to suspend Ben Godson from the APC.

In his own submission, a party chieftain from Ukwa West and an APC aspirant for Ukwa West state constituency Engr. Chinwendu Sterling Uruakpa thanked Mr. President for his thoroughness and thoughtfulness in the choice of Nwogu N. Nwogu as the Abia representative in the board of NDDC, he described those calling for the withdrawal of the nomination of Hon. Nwogu as unprogressive elements who does not want the progress of the Ukwa man but that they will fail the way they failed the last time.

He called on the youths stay calm and law abiding and assured them that Hon. Nwogu will be inaugurated and that his stay in in the board will bring the desired development to Ukwa and Abia in general and that no scheming of those agents of backwardness will stop the inauguration of No. Nwogu as the NDDC commissioner

In responses, Abia State APC publicity secretary, Ben Godson described the group of youths protesting as miscreants and doubts if they are indeed from Ukwa as he suspects they are a hired crowd brought in to protest in Ukwa land and cause mayhem.

He likewise made it clear that they lack the power or even capacity to suspend him from the party;

“I am a full party man, those people protesting are not in our party and I doubt if they are from Ukwa, they are a hired crowd, miscreants brought in by the opposition to cause disaffection within our party APC”.

Speaking also to the APC Ukwa West Secretary, Mr. Ihuoma Dike, he explained that APC Ukwa West has joined in rejecting the nomination of Nwogu Nwogu as Abia State representative in the board of NNDC. He revealed that Nwogu is not a member of APC as he has never attended any meeting of APC in Ukwa West where he hails from.

He went further to reveal that Nwogu even used his position as NDDC board member in the last election to work against the party and wondered why the same person should enjoy the labour of true APC members.

Abia Facts News was also connected by the Youth Leader of APC in Ukwa West, Mr. Stanley James, James disassociated the youths from the protest and threw their weight behind Ben Godson who he described as their leader.
