The gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party, Barrister Emeka Uwakolam, has shelved his candidacy and has drummed up support for the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Dr Alex Otti.
Barrister Uwakolam who made this known in a press conference which held at the Campaign office of Dr Alex Otti, at Bank Road in Umuahia, said that he was in perfect agreement with the economic policies, infrastructural plan, revolutionary mindset of Dr Otti which made him to look at the existing political realities before taking such a huge step.
In his words Barrister Uwakolam said “the time to build a new Abia which we all can call our own, is now; To change the narrative and entrench best practice and a system that rewards excellence. That time is now! we must put our hands to make sure we work together.”
While fielding questions from newsmen, Barr Uwakolam explained that he was not leaving the Accord party, neither was he collapsing his campaign structure, but he has chosen to partner with Dr Alex, to ensure that someone with genuine interest gets in there. Hence, it is not defection to APGA, but a way of lending his support to the candidacy of Dr Otti who he said has the ‘capacity’ to make things better.
He also promised to work tirelessly to ensure the votes he should have gotten, and many more, get to Dr Otti, and also to canvass and tell the people their resolve, which is to ensure that Dr Alex Otti is voted and sworn in as the next governor of Abia state.
Uwakolam Has over twenty organizations working for him all over the state which will be bringing on board with him, over a hundred thousand youths to ensure that the votes go to him
He took time to also disclaim some supposed members of the party who claim to be aspirants under the umbrella of the party. In his words “those ones claiming to be senatorial candidates of our party are not only illegal but their activities are criminal, we have noticed their nefarious activities and we will make sure they are brought before the law.”
On his own, Dr Otti said the move was first made by Barrister Uwakolam, where he showed enormous willingness to commit to his election bid, and to ensure that they work together to liberate the state from the current quagmire it is in at the moments. Dr Otti said from the first day they met at the debate, their spirits had agreed, and their synergy from the first day they met at the debate was struck.
“His talks about God and his passion for the growth and development of the state is something that should is highly admirable. I can say that the only way to stop what is happening is to stop idol worshiping, visiting of shrines, and these all can be done when we enthrone the presence of God in this state”, Dr Otti said
Furthermore Dr Alex Otti thanked Barr Uwakolam him for the show of humility, and agreed that Accord party being one of the strongest parties in Abia is not a portfolio party that people registered for business, making it a big boost to their bid for election.
Dr Alex Otti also restated that despite him making promises of rewards for the kind gesture of the Accord Party candidate, he rejected and insisted that it wasn’t for money, but his passion for the development of the state.
Dr Otti assured his teeming supporters that he will win the election again, will be declared winners, sworn in, and take over the affairs of the state.
“Abia is enmeshed in a rot and the people who don’t see it are very few that’s why they can’t talk. Abia has been ruled by certificated illiterates. They can’t attract foreign investors because of the hostile environment they have created. The only industries they have created are the bill board industry, propaganda industry, mortuary/undertaking industry.” Dr Alex Otti said.
