Abians have expressed deep appreciation to the City Boy Movement and its National Patron, Seyi Tinubu, for the impactful youth empowerment drive witnessed during the Renewed Hope National Youth Tour held in Owerri on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

The event, which attracted a large number of young people from across the South-East, formed part of the movement’s activities aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs, artisans, ICT professionals, farmers, and transporters with tools and support to enhance their businesses and livelihoods.

The massive turnout recorded at the event underscores the growing resonance of the movement’s core message; support for the reelection of Bola Ahmed Tinubu—particularly among young people who are often overlooked in the broader economic landscape.

However, the stampede caused by a crowd surge, which disrupted the otherwise peaceful conduct of the event, is deeply regrettable. While the outing was a strong and impressive show of political mobilization, there remains room for improvement in areas such as crowd management, security deployment, and venue capacity. Despite this incident, the programme recorded significant success. The City Boy Movement will build on the progress made, draw lessons from the experience, and consider organizing similar empowerment initiatives at the state, local government, and ward levels in the future.

Speaking at the event, Lucky Igbokwe(Don Lulu) Abia State Director of the movement who led the Abia delegation, commended Barr. Seyi Tinubu for what he described as visionary leadership and a genuine passion for empowering Nigerian youths. According to him, the impact of the City Boy Movement is already being felt across communities in Abia State as more young people embrace opportunities for leadership, entrepreneurship, and civic participation.

“The enthusiasm and massive turnout of youths from across the South-East is a strong indication that the City Boy Movement is gradually becoming a rallying platform for young Nigerians who believe in the Renewed Hope agenda and the future of our country,” Igbokwe stated.

He added that Abians are particularly grateful for the commitment shown by Barr. Seyi Tinubu in opening doors for young people and encouraging them to play meaningful roles in nation-building.

Mayor Igbokwe also praised Francis Shoga, Director-General of the movement, for his strategic leadership and coordination, noting that his tireless efforts have helped expand the reach and influence of the City Boy Movement across the country.

He further reaffirmed the commitment of the Abia chapter to deepening grassroots mobilization while supporting initiatives that empower young people to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s growth and development.
