FCT poll: Votes must count - ADC candidate warns Wike

The chairmanship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, in Saturday’s Federal Capital Territory, FCT, council elections, Dr Moses Paul, has issued a strong warning to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, insisting that the will of voters must be respected.

Paul delivered the warning while addressing supporters and residents in Abuja ahead of the AMAC election, urging citizens to remain resolute and confident in the electoral process.

He said, “In terms of protecting the votes, Senator Kingibe is there, Senator Obika Joshua is there. So our votes must count.

“Of course, our votes do count. To the minister, this is not Obia-Akpor, you can’t write votes in AMAC. He cannot. Somebody should tell the minister that Dr Mo says that the will of the people will count.”

The candidate also painted a vision of a new direction for AMAC, promising bold leadership and a focus on tackling insecurity and hardship.

According to him, FCT residents are eager for good governance that would bring positive change to their daily lives.

“On Saturday, there’s going to be a new AMAC, where boldness, objectivity, decisiveness and fearlessness will take centre stage.

“Enough of people dying, enough of poverty, enough of brigandage. We own this city, Wike does not own the city. The city belongs to the people, the sovereign masses and the young people listening to me,” Paul added.

He called on young people and residents to participate actively in the election, describing the vote as a chance to reshape governance in the council.
