Liverpool ‘closer’ to deal for Adam Wharton, Juventus in for Premier League duo Federico Chiesa and Joshua Zirkzee – Euro Transfer News
In Monday’s Euro Transfer News, Adam Wharton is reportedly edging “closer” to a sensational move to Liverpool. Meanwhile, Juventus are interested in bringing in Reds forward Federico Chiesa and Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee. And finally, Napoli have drawn up a shortlist of wingers they wish to target, a list which includes Jadon Sancho, currently on loan at Aston Villa from Man United.
Wharton ‘closer’ to Liverpool
Adam Wharton has attracted plenty of interest from clubs across the Premier League, but Liverpool could be the frontrunners for his signature.
That is according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, who reports that the England international is “closer” to joining The Reds.
Schira also states that Wharton has made contact with the Merseyside club with a view towards signing a five-year contract.
“Adam Wharton is getting closer to Liverpool from Crystal Palace,” Schira wrote on X.
“The midfielder has already given his availability to join LFC with a 5-years [sic] contract.”
Juventus in for Chiesa and Zirkzee
After pulling out of negotiations to sign Youssef En-Nesyri from Fenerbahce, Juventus have turned their attentions to former Serie A stars Federico Chiesa and Joshua Zirkzee.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim that sporting director Giorgio Chiellini is interested in bringing in the out-of-favour Premier League forwards after talks for En-Nesyri broke down.
“The situation is pretty clear,” Chiellini said about En-Nesyri. “We went to speak to the player, he expressed a few doubts on the formula of the transfer, so for us right now the negotiations are over. We cannot and do not want to buy him outright.
“We’ll see over the next few days if there are any developments or other opportunities, but for us it is over.”
Sancho on Napoli’s wish list
Jadon Sancho is on Napoli’s short list of wingers they are interested in signing, according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport.
The Manchester United forward, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, is one potential target, along with Abde Ezzalzouli of Real Betis, Nice’s Jeremie Boga, Atalanta attacker Daniel Maldini and Armand Lauriente from Sassuolo.
Corriere dello Sport reports: “Another name that’s still popular is Jadon Sancho. On Thursday, the former Borussia Dortmund player scored his first goal of the season for Aston Villa, deciding the Europa League match against Fenerbahce.
“In the Premier League, Emery has been using him sparingly: 11 appearances overall, only two of them as a starter. For this very reason, his loan from Manchester United could end early.
“This list is constantly evolving and could be reduced as the days go by, but it will ultimately determine Napoli’s new winger for the rest of the season.
“Much will also depend on [Antonio] Conte: the system he wants to use when [Frank] Anguissa returns, the injuries, and his recovery.
